a One Scoop or Two Novella

Winner N. N. Light’s Book Heaven, Best of 2020 , Vintage Romance category

In the mood for a short, sweet World War Two era romance?

On a lengthy car ride to their annual seaside vacation, a mother recounts the true story of a sweet family tradition.
It’s the summer of 1941 in the seaside town of Langford, Rhode Island, and seventeen-year-old Meredith Franklin works as a server at Seymore’s Ice Cream Shoppe.

When aspiring baseball player Anthony Fanelli strolls into the ice cream shop, his teasing banter leads to romantic sparks and dreams of forever love.

Their whirlwind courtship comes to an abrupt halt on December 7, 1941, when America enters World War Two, forcing the couple to put their future on hold.

Decades later, a treasure trove of wartime letters details the romance of Merry and Anthony and the sacrifices of a generation.

REVIEWS

“The story is sweet, clean, and cool, and the strength of this book is found in the architecture of the setting. Details and sensory triggers abound. The parallel story lines about baseball, medical professions, twins, and of course almond fudge ice cream tightly wrap up this novella.” Kayla, Goodreads

“This is another incredible story in the One Scoop or Two series. In my view, this one is spot-on perfect. The author has so many obvious gifts that are on display in this writing. She subtly captures the modern-day teen in simple terms. Charlotte O’Shay also is able to switch between two different time periods flawlessly. I was reminded of how the movie The Princess Bride did that. It is in that flowing whimsical fashion that the author carries the story.

The story of the great grandparents’ meeting in the tumultuous days of 1941 is very well written. The author has a gift for romantic storytelling that many attempt, but few successfully create. A fun, charming, romantic tale. One that will appeal to every reader of the One Scoop or Two series. A superb beach read. A great fall read, a wonderful winter read and a fantastic spring read. This book will appeal to anyone who enjoys a good romance. The ending is a slice of heaven, with almond fudge ice cream on the side!”
